A Message from the Director

                                                    Winter 2010

Welcome to the ASCLS Region I Web Site!

Let me introduce myself as your Region I Director.  I received my bachelors degree in Medical Technology and worked for several years as a medical technologist in western New York. I have both hospital and  private clinical laboratory experience.   While working full time, I began studies on a masters degree in Health Sciences Education.  I have taught at the community college and at a private college before beginning my present position at the University of Buffalo.   In addition to my teaching duties, I am also the Clinical  Education Coordinator for the Medical Technology Program.

I have been a member of ASCLS for over 30 years (I joined when I was in kindergarten!)  and have been active at the local,  state and now the national levels.  I have served the Niagara Frontier Chapter for Clinical Laboratory Science as corresponding secretary, recording secretary, treasurer, president-elect, president and past president.  For several years I served ASCLS-NY as scholarship and awards chair, board member  and more recently as secretary.

 I have begun the third year of a three year term on the Board of Directors of ASCLS. This year, I am serving as the Board of Directors liaison to the Government Affairs Committee and the Scientific Assembly.
